Principal's Message
Dear CPMA Community,
Wow! Only a month into the school year and I am changing the principal's message from a farewell from the old principal, to a hello from me, your new principal. At this pace, just imagine how fast the wheels of academia will turn. Seriously though, I want to say thank you to everyone for helping to get CPMA off to another great start. As most of you are already aware, this is a special school with an outstanding staff and some pretty amazing students. We are looking forward to some exciting productions this year, both from your academic teachers and your fantastic arts teachers. It is a unique pleasure watching talented young people shine. I am always blown away at the level of professionalism and individual achievement our children bring to their craft.
For those of you who new to CPMA, like myself, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. I have been in and around education for nearly twenty years, and in that time, I have taught everything from English to drama, journalism, yearbook, speech, and even ASB. I have worked in administration for almost five years, two as dean of students and three as Vice-principal of SCPA (the School of Creative and Performing Arts). What all this means is that I know kids, I know education, I know administration, and I know arts. It is my number one goal to continue to push all of our teachers and students to reach for the stars when it comes to creativity and performance.
I will soon be starting up Mr. Hilger's coffee club again (under new management and with a possible name change, of course), and I hope that you find time to stop by and visit. Another routine that I am doing my best to keep running are the Friday updates sent via the auto-dialer. This is a great way to reach out to the majority of our parents at one time and it is a great way for you to keep up with what is happening here at CPMA.
Finally, one of my personal goals is to regularly update the principal's message, so check in from time to time to see what I have to say. Who knows, it might actually be informational. At the very least, it should be entertaining...
Sincerely,
Scott Thomason
Principal
